Tue Jan 18, 2005 6:30 PM Dark and Stormy Night Hike
(Loma Prieta Sierra Singles: http://lomaprieta.sierraclub.org/lpss)

It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents-except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness.

Edward Bulwer-Lytton, Paul Clifford

Come observe the anniversary of the demise of the author of that immortal sentence with a hike in the dark (and, we may hope, stormy) night, up the lower reaches of Mission Peak. This is a moderate-paced hike of about 4 miles, with a fair bit of elevation gain. Bring a flashlight and warm clothing. Sun cancels. Meet at Mission Peak.

Directions to Mission Peak Regional Preserve in Fremont: Take 880 north to Mission Blvd exit; take Mission about 1.5 miles to the third light. Just beyond the third light, turn right on Stanford Ave at the sign that says "Mission Peak Regional Preserve." This road ends at the parking lot. Important: the parking area is now paved. All un-paved areas, now matter how parkable they look, are off limits. There is abundant overflow parking along Vineyard Ave., the first public sidestreet as you head back down Stanford.

Sorry, you've missed this one, and there are no future instances on the schedule yet.
