Eric Wilner: upcoming events

Sun Dec 14, 2003 10:00 AM Purisima Creek Hike
(Loma Prieta Sierra Singles: http://lomaprieta.sierraclub.org/lpss)

This 9-mile loop takes us from Skyline down to the bottom of the preserve and back (about 1000 feet elevation gain), with scenery all the way. It's particularly interesting on a foggy day; the hillsides can be downright surreal. Possible banana slug race at lunchtime. Bring lunch and water, and come dressed for the weather (which tends to be wetter on the coast side of the hills, where we'll be hiking). Heavy rain cancels.
(Oops... I just noticed that I didn't update the outside-the-writeup distance and elevation fields for the LPSS newsleter. The numbers here -- 9 miles, 1000 feet -- are approximately correct.)
Meet at carpool point #6.
Hmmm... the latest forecast calls for rain straight through the morning and into the afternoon, finishing about the same time the hike does. Well, I'll be showing up at the carpool point anyway; if the rain isn't too heavy, we can go for a hike.

Directions to LPSS carpool point #6 (Page Mill / 280 Park 'N Ride): Exit 280 onto Page Mill Road west (Los Altos Hills) in Palo Alto. The lot is next to the freeway. If looking for overflow parking, beware of the "No Parking" signs along Arastradero. Map: http://tinyurl.com/2tq9rk

Sorry, you've missed this one, and there are no future instances on the schedule yet.
