Sun Jan 27, 2002 10:00 AM Gazos Creek Hike
(Loma Prieta Sierra Singles: http://lomaprieta.sierraclub.org/lpss)

Leave your TV off and come walk along the beach instead! If we can find the secret route, we'll hike 6-7 miles, mostly on sand, watching squadrons of pelicans flying north, and quite possibly encountering stray elephant seals. After the hike, we may make a bakery/grocery stop in Pescadero. Bring: extra layers, comfortable walking shoes that can get sandy and/or wet, lunch, water, and money for carpool and optional shopping stop. Meet at carpool point #6.
OK, so the forecast isn't so favorable, and we won't be missing the Superbowl after all. If it's only a little bit rainy we can go anyway (bring a waterproof lunch; peanut butter sandwiches in the rain get horribly soggy). Flash! As of 5:30 this morning, Weather Underground says partly cloudy in Santa Cruz, with a chance of showers in the afternoon; weather.com says mostly sunny in Half Moon Bay. I think it's a go!

Directions to LPSS carpool point #6 (Page Mill / 280 Park 'N Ride): Exit 280 onto Page Mill Road west (Los Altos Hills) in Palo Alto. The lot is next to the freeway. If looking for overflow parking, beware of the "No Parking" signs along Arastradero. Map: http://tinyurl.com/2tq9rk

Sorry, you've missed this one, and there are no future instances on the schedule yet.
