Forget your financial woes with a day of physical drudgery! This taxing hike (about 15 miles, 2200 feet elevation gain) takes us from Rancho San Antonio to the top of Black Mountain by way of the Duveneck Windmill Pasture. Expect some wildflowers, lush new stands of poison oak, and a view of the quarry on the way back. Bring water, lunch, more water, layers, and an attitude. Rain cancels. Meet at carpool point #8.
Directions to LPSS carpool point #8 (Homestead Square in Cupertino): Exit 280 onto Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd (De Anza Blvd) towards Sunnyvale (north). First left on Homestead. Shopping center is on left side. Pass RiteAid and the PW Market, and continue to the north end of the shopping center. Park along the Homestead side, near Carl's Jr.
