This 7-mile, moderate-paced hike takes us up and down the hills of Monte Bello, Coal Creek, Russian Ridge, and Skyline Ridge open space preserves. On a clear day, there are spectacular views; fog or light rain can make the wooded portions more interesting. In any case, short of a real storm, it's a fun hike. The trail may be muddy in spots, but we won't be wading across any rivers. Some parts are fairly steep; sturdy footwear is in order, as is appropriate weather protection. Bring lunch, liquids, suitable clothing for the weather, and a change of shoes in case we get muddy. We should be done around 3:00pm. Heavy rain cancels. Meet at carpool point #6.
