It's officially spring!
Early spring is just the time to visit Henry Coe State Park; the hills should be green, and the wildflowers in bloom.
This will be about a 10 mile hike, with a few steep spots and probably a few easy creek crossings (no swimming required). The route is somewhat flexible, but will definitely include China Hole.
Bring: sturdy footwear, lunch, plenty of water, layers, and sun protection.
Meet at carpool point #3.
Significant rain cancels; light sprinkles OK. Forecast for Morgan Hill can be found here. As of Sunday morning, it looks like the hiking portion of the day will be mostly non-rainy -SO- I'll show up at the carpool point and see if I have any takers! Bring your rain gear, 'cause we'll probably get rained on a little bit!
Final update: I just heard from someone who lives in Morgan Hill. She reports heavy rain, and dark clouds as far as the eye can see. Are we feeling adventurous? I'm still possibly up for this hike, or we can go someplace closer to home for a less ambitious outing, and leave Coe for next month sometime.
Directions to LPSS carpool point #3 (Santa Clara County parking lot): Corner of 1st and Hedding, San Jose. Exit 101 or 880 onto 1st Street south in San Jose. Turn right at Hedding, and right again into the parking lot. Don't be too worried about the "no public parking" signs; they don't seem to apply on weekends.
