Leave your TV off and come walk along the beach instead! If we can find the secret route, we'll hike 6-7 miles, mostly on sand, watching squadrons of pelicans flying north, and quite possibly encountering stray elephant seals. After the hike, we may make a bakery/grocery stop in Pescadero. Bring: extra layers, comfortable walking shoes that can get sandy and/or wet, lunch, water, and money for carpool and optional shopping stop.

The weather forecast looks fairly favorable -- partly cloudy, but (as of Wednesday morning) no threat of rain this weekend. Oh, and be sure to set your VCR for the half-time show.
