Let's all hike up to the top of Mission Peak and bay at the moon! This is a fairly strenuous hike, with 2000 feet of elevation gain in 3 miles (and the same back down), so dress appropriately; also be prepared for a chill wind at the top. Bring water, extra layers, a bag of treats, and a sprig of wolfsbane. A flashlight might also be a good idea.
Meet at Mission Peak.
The moon rises at 5:18 tonight, so it should help illuminate our path.
Directions to Mission Peak Regional Preserve in Fremont: Take 880 north to Mission Blvd exit; take Mission about 1.5 miles to the third light. Just beyond the third light, turn right on Stanford Ave at the sign that says "Mission Peak Regional Preserve." This road ends at the parking lot. Important: the parking area is now paved. All un-paved areas, now matter how parkable they look, are off limits. There is abundant overflow parking along Vineyard Ave., the first public sidestreet as you head back down Stanford.
